The Potpourri Garden
Hello There!!!! I am really super excited about Springtime!!! It is official on March 20th and I am hoping that the weather around here will be warming up soon. I have so many plans for my Garden this year. I intend on continuing to grow vegetables as I have been doing in the past but today, I would like to talk to you about my Potpourri Garden. For those of you that know me and follow my posts, you know that I have always included plants in my garden to use in Potpourri or for Medicinal purposes. Cultivating these types of plants have been an interest of mine for many years. My Dad was and still is an avid Gardener. I originally was inspired by him. When I was in my early 20's, my Dad gifted me this lovely Coffee Table book.
Take a peek inside at a few of my favorite pages.
I have enjoyed and treasured this book for many years and still reference to it for ideas and inspiration.
Last year, I found a couple of fantastic books at one of my favorite Thrift Shoppes that I also treasure.
These books have given me inspiration to create wonderfully scented gifts for giving. I mention a couple of these books in this video:http://youtu.be/MWkj7eEJZwk
Making Potpourri is an ongoing and year round thing for me. I dry flowers and herbs by hanging them around my home, just waiting to be added to some wonderful concoction!
You will also find citrus rinds and even pomegranate skins drying in my home. These are just a few of the many wonderful fruits that add to a gorgeous potpourri mixture!!!
This book is another great Thrift Shoppe find that has been very inspirational in guiding me with my Potpourri plantings...
I love growing roses as this is my favorite flower to incorporate in my blends.
Growing Mint is another favorite and adds such fragrance as well as healing qualities to a potpourri blend. My Mint plants start here and cover the entire stone and fence walls...
such a lovely and fragrant site when it has taken over the space!
So, with Spring around the corner, I am anxious to get into the earth, to begin planting, and preparing for Nature's Bounty. I simply can not wait!!!!
Much Love,
♥♥♥

Practical Magic
I have been thinking for quite some time now about what I wanted to share for this year's Practical Magic Blog Party post. Before I begin, you can see my Last years post at this link:http://www.myspace.com/miladyleela/blog/539428322
...Anyway, I have decided that I what I want to share is a collection of thoughts and pictures that continue to inspire me and thus, bring Practical Magic into my world. Lets begin shall we?
Peace and Serenity are two things that are always are needed in anyone's world. Think of a dream land that you would love to escape to.
Now close your eyes and calm your mind.....you are now there.
Take a walk into the Enchanted forest, breath in the clean, crisp woodland air.

Take time to watch the lovely swans in all their beauty swim across the lake.
Next, light a candle and relax in the calmness of the shadows made on the wall.Quite often, I think about my lovely Grandmother and how she created magic in her world everyday just by the way she lived her life.
One of the things that I remember about her was she taught me the beginnings of palmistry.
She would take my hand and show me what the lines in my palm meant.
That sparked me to do further research as an adult. One of these days, I will have to share more about my Grandmother and her beautiful soul. My love of gardening was first inspired by my Grandfather and later my Dad. Due to that inspiration, I now have my own garden.

I have mostly roses and herbs that I use for blending my potpourris and perfume oil potions.
My garden is really for medicinal and Aromatherapy purposes which to me is quite frankly, Practical Magic!
Believing in yourself and believing in love also creates Practical Magic. You may not even realize it but just those two things can be a spark to creating magic in your world. Once you believe in yourself, your world will open to so many things. So, with that, let's go back to the beginning.....think of a dream land that you would love to escape to...now close your eyes and calm your mind.....Make some Magic Happen in your world.Much Love,
♥♥♥

A Jar Full Of Petals

I have been collecting roses from my garden for a while now and have been drying them to create a lovely scented potpourri for my Shoppe. Of course, I will have to save some for myself. I have a weakness for potpourri. I think it is so beautiful, so natural and is amazing for the scent it evokes.
I currently have a Rose Potpourri listed in my Shoppe. You can see it here:

In addition, a rose and bergamot perfume oil that can be used as an additive for potpourri or as a perfume for you to wear. Find it here:

I can tell that My Summer Garden will be yielding a lot for me to work with for my Potion Section of the Shoppe. Be sure to visit.
Ahhh...yes, I finally have my laptop back and well again!!! Yay! I am so happy.....I now can get to those pics I promised regarding the Band and my City.
Be with you all soon.
Much Love,
♥♥♥
